Yolanda Lewis-Ragland MD
Dr Yolanda Lewis-Ragland is “a passionate health advocate, thought-provoking lifestyle interventionist, and compassionate medical doctor”, board-certified through both the American Academy of Paediatrics and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. She has been practicing in the DMV (DC, Maryland and Virginia) as a community paediatrician for more than 10 years at Children’s National Health System. She is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at The George Washington University.
The Children’s National Health System is a programme partner of the David Lynch Foundation TMC in Washington DC. Dr Lewis-Ragland has been a vocal advocate for Transcendental Meditation in underserved communities for years.
A best-selling author and sought-after speaker, over the years Dr Lewis-Ragland has collaborated with and/or served as a consultant for Black Entertainment Television (BET), the US Peace Corps, United Way, USAID, UNICEF, the World Health Organization, DC Department of Health, Department of Health and Human Services, the DC Mayor’s Office on Women’s Policies and Initiatives, as well as the Government of the US Virgin Islands, to name but a few.
Dr Lewis-Ragland’s global health training and extensive experience in clinical service and research has set her apart as a subject expert on self-care strategies and obesity management in both children and adults and she is dedicated to implementing cutting-edge technology to best serve her clients.
She sees her life’s work as being to provide quality healthcare service in efforts to reduce, if not close, the gap of healthcare disparities and to promote health equity in vulnerable populations and communities.
Dr Lewis-Ragland has received numerous awards and honors for her work as a community advocate, educator and researcher.
